If I do end up being forced into another M-Van (Astro, Safari) by my parents, it has to meet some criteria.

It must:

Be the 95+ body style.

Kinja'd!!!

Be either grey, silver (below), blue, green, or pewter (pictured above)

Kinja'd!!!

NOT have any aftermarket custom work done to it. No custom windows, aero roof, or hideous stripes.

Have the dutch door system.

Kinja'd!!!

Have a cloth interior that is either tan or grey, depending on exterior color.

Have the 4.3L VORTEC engine making 190 horsepower, 260 ft-lbs of torque (which should be standard on 95+ models)

Be AWD.

Kinja'd!!!

I think this sounds like a pretty reasonable list for someone who would be shoved into driving another mommy mobile just so we have a car that hold hold 7-8 people in a pinch.

welcome to the northwest. pretty much EVERY family up here has a huge old family hauler. they come in handy for homecoming and such! last year for our 2nd dance of the year, called tolo, we had at our disposal:

2002 Ford Excursion V10.

2003 Chevy Suburban.

2004 GMC Yukon XL.

1998 Chevy Suburban.

It's awesome to see a 200,000mile truck, with only one owner! :D

so yeah, take your pick, and i'll gladly drive it to St. Lou for you over winter break!

There's tons of them down here, but everyone holds on to them!

Though, they're starting to trickle onto craigslist now that their owners are moving on to crossovers or new Tahoes.

Great thing about the midwest, you know at least 5 families with Tahoes or similar.

exactly the same thing up here! all the cars listed are one-owner!!!
the only one on it's 2nd owner is the GMC (which is a Denali BTW) and it's driven by the son of the original owner

Yup, gotta hold on to them to recuperate the cost of buying it new! Even in 2005 these things weren't exactly cheap.

Well back then gas was cheap, but I couldn't imagine filling these things in like '09 when gas was over $4 a gallon.

Oh wait, yeah I can. My dad had to fill his Silverado. WITH PREMIUM. And he was driving over 500 miles a week.

How is the Excursion? I remember it being absolutely massive but it seemed to have positive reviews and is rated as pretty reliable.

It is, in my humble opinion, the world's best long distance hauling thing.

Sure, an S-class can cover Germany in 3 hours, but an Excursion will comfortably get 7 people from Seattle to Ft. Lauderdale and back, twice, without breaking a sweat!

I adore the excursion. a huge V10 engine, more torque than most Diesel-Electric locomotives, is just what you need. The ability to haul NINE people with no issues is also pretty amazing.

Again, I love, love, love that truck
